Indivisible Douglas County Code of Conduct & Shared Commitments
As a member of this movement, I agree to uphold the following values and standards of conduct in all of my actions, organizing, and participation:
1. I commit to non-violence.
I reject all forms of political violence and intimidation, regardless of the source or the target. Non-violence is not passive—it is a powerful, disciplined strategy rooted in courage, moral clarity, and solidarity. Self-defense against violence is understandable, but I will never engage in or encourage violence, threats, or harassment in any form.
2. I believe democracy is for everyone.
I will work toward a multiracial, inclusive democracy where everyone—no matter their race, background, identity, or zip code—has equal rights and equal power. I reject discrimination, bigotry, and exclusion in all forms.
3. I lead with hope, not fear.
I recognize that fear and division are tools of authoritarianism. I will act with hope, integrity, and the belief that people working together can change what’s possible.
4. I organize—NOT idolize.
I understand that this movement is powered by people, not politicians. I will hold elected leaders accountable—regardless of party—and focus my energy on building people-powered change, especially alongside communities most impacted by injustice.
5. I will show up with discipline and solidarity.
I commit to building trust and community across race, class, geography, and generation. I understand that this is a long-term movement and that how we treat each other—especially under pressure—matters.
