Rooted in Resistance.
Growing Across Douglas County.

What began as Indivisible Roseburg has become a countywide movement fighting for democracy, equity, and accountability.

Our Vision

A real democracy—of, by, and for every person in Douglas County, no matter our race, religion, background, ability, sexual orientation, gender, or immigration status.

Action by action, day by day, neighbor by neighbor—Indivisible Douglas County is helping shape a democracy that truly works for all of us.

Originally founded as Indivisible Roseburg, our group came together in response to the Trump administration’s attacks on democracy and civil rights. Inspired by the Indivisible Guide, we began organizing locally—making calls, showing up, speaking out, and standing up for our shared values. As our efforts grew, so did our reach. We recently adopted the name Indivisible Douglas County to reflect our broader commitment to communities throughout the entire region—from Drain to Glendale, from Reedsport to Diamond Lake, and everywhere in between.

Today, we are part of a national movement made up of thousands of local groups and millions of volunteers across the country. Together, we are building lasting grassroots power—right here in Douglas County and in every corner of the nation—by electing progressive champions, resisting authoritarianism, and advancing a bold, inclusive vision for the future.

Our Mission

At Indivisible Douglas County, our mission is to organize our community as part of a powerful, coordinated grassroots movement to stop the right-wing assault on American democracy—and to help build a government that reflects the values of inclusion, justice, and bold progressive change.

We equip Douglas County volunteers with the tools, training, and support needed to take action—while aligning our efforts with thousands of Indivisible groups across the country to maximize our collective impact.

By turning grassroots energy into political power, we work to elect progressive leaders who will fight for an inclusive democracy that serves all people—and to defeat those who stand in the way, whether in Oregon or Washington, D.C.

Why We’re Here

Indivisible Douglas County was founded in the wake of Trump’s election—but we know Trump was never the root of the problem. His rise only exposed deep, structural flaws in our democracy—flaws that have existed since the beginning, when power was intentionally concentrated in the hands of the white and wealthy.

Over the past few decades, that system has been further rigged by an alliance of far-right extremists and ultra-rich elites determined to erode democratic institutions and silence the voices of everyday people—including those of us living in rural Oregon.

With the re-election of Trump to a second term, we are here to change that. We’re working to build a multiracial, inclusive democracy that reflects all of us—rural and urban, from all economic classes, across race, religion, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ability. One that is sustained by community power and driven by a shared belief that democracy only works when it works for everyone.

How We Win

We Are Indivisible

The forces we’re up against rely on fear, division, and scapegoating. In Douglas County, we reject that. We believe an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us—whether it targets immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, low-income families, or anyone else on the margins. We show up for one another and fight for a democracy that belongs to everyone, not just the powerful few.

Strong Leaders. Strong Groups. Strong Movement.

We grow local leadership and build grassroots power right here in Douglas County. Volunteers step up, take action, and connect with fellow organizers across the state and country. We’re stronger when we coordinate—not just as individuals or towns, but as a united movement.

Inside/Outside Strategy

We understand how power works—at the local, state, and federal level—and we use every tool we can. That means applying outside pressure through constituent action and public organizing, while also pushing for change from the inside through strategic engagement with elected officials, no matter their party affiliation.

Advocacy + Elections = Long-Term Power

We don’t just show up during election season. We advocate year-round—rallying around policy wins during off years and mobilizing voters when it’s time to go to the polls. This cycle of action ensures that the people in office reflect the values of our community—or that we replace them with people who will.

Who We ArE

We are everyday people, just like you! Indivisible Douglas County began as Indivisible Roseburg, inspired by the original Indivisible Guide and grounded in the belief that local action matters. What started as a small, determined group in one town has grown into a broader countywide movement—uniting residents from across Douglas County to stand up for democracy, equity, and justice.

We’re part of a national network of thousands of autonomous Indivisible groups, supported by a national team of organizers, strategists, and advocates. That partnership helps us stay connected to the larger fight while keeping our focus on what matters most: building people power here at home.

Together, we are helping to defeat the right-wing assault on democracy and create a future where all of us—regardless of background—can thrive.

Our Commitment To Non-Violence

At Indivisible Douglas County, our work is rooted in shared values that guide how we show up, who we fight for, and what kind of democracy we’re building together. We are firmly committed to non-violence as both a moral principle and a strategic foundation for our movement. We reject all forms of political violence, intimidation, and harassment—regardless of the source or target.

Our strength comes from our discipline, courage, and solidarity, especially in the face of injustice or threats. We believe that democracy belongs to everyone, and we are fighting for a multiracial, inclusive democracy where every person—no matter their race, background, or identity—has equal rights and power.

We lead with hope, not fear, because fear is a tool of authoritarianism. Instead, we act with integrity and the belief that people working together can achieve transformative change. We are organizers, not followers; we put our energy into building power from the ground up, holding elected officials accountable, and standing alongside the communities most impacted by injustice.

As part of this movement, we commit to building real community across race, class, geography, and generation—knowing that lasting change requires trust, unity, and a refusal to become what we’re fighting against. All members, volunteers, and participants in Indivisible Douglas County are expected to uphold these values and conduct themselves in ways that reflect the strength and integrity of our movement.
